Nevada has a very large and diverse population and yet we are a very small community with the same common goals and interests.
We need and should expect a strong education system we can be proud of. Every parent or guardian should have a choice in how their children are educated and where they are educated.
As parents we should have choices and schools trying to give our children the best education out there.
Parents & Teachers should have a choice in how our kids are educated. Get rid of "Common Core"
We should make sure that we retain good teachers. Give the classrooms back to the teachers and make sure they can continue to teach without the benefit of a second job or fundraising just to equip their classrooms.Teachers need to have better pay. Let's make 2020 about our kids and teachers.
I am all for a teachers union but one that actually does what is promised and listens to those that are actually in the classroom and that includes listening to the kids and parents not just someone in administration or who sits on a board. These children are our future let's make sure it is a bright one!
There was a time when students, not just elementary school students, but high school students had the option to take electives in Art, Music, Theatre, Dance , Auto shop, Woodworking, Home Economics and Cooking. Even classes on Life Skills; the list goes on.
What happened to all of these classes that helped to make our children and grandchildren well rounded individuals?
Studies show that in a society full of so much technology and social media that our children are more stressed out than ever before.
The ability to communicate directly with one another has decreased. We much rather communicate thru technology.
The outlets for creativity and to express themselves need to come back into the school system. Help me bring Music, Art, Dance & P.E. back into our schools.
Secretary of Education John King agrees. Speaking to the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts , King declared that while literacy and math skills were “necessary for success in college and in life…they’re not by themselves sufficient. A more well-rounded education is critical for a safe, supportive and enjoyable learning environment.” http://neatoday.org/2016/06/21/essa-well-rounded-education/
When these two programs did not yield the results everyone was hoping for we started heading right back to where we first began a WELL ROUNDED EDUCATION.
